Elder Board:
Calvary Community Church is governed by a Board of Elders who are selected to oversee the ministry and the dealings of the church. The role of an Elder is to search God's Word, seek God's face, pray and fast in order to guard and guide the church.

Rick Bartlett - Elder
Rick joined the Elder Board in 2010 and currently serves as Chairman of the Elder Board.
Call to Ministry:
"I came to know and love Jesus at a young age. Eventually, I came to understand my need for a savior and the joy that
comes from knowing Christ as Lord. Over the last few years, I’ve had the opportunity to see God at work in my life;
growing my faith, blessing me with a family, and giving me the desire to know Him better as my life goes on. Today, I’m
grateful to serve our church and humbled that God would use me in this capacity. As an elder, I’m committed to seeing
Calvary as an impactful, Christ-centered place where children come to know the Lord, families grow strong together, and each
of us are challenged to live out our faith wherever we are."
Favorite Scripture Verse: Philippians 4:4-9 - "…Do not be anxious about anything. But in everything, through
prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all
understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble,
whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable if anything is excellent or praiseworthy think
about such things. Whatever you have learned or heard or received from me, or seen in me, put it into practice and the God of

Larry Carignan - Elder and Operations Board
Call to Ministry:
"Knowing and serving Christ has always been part of my life. In my early 20’s, feeling something missing in my
faith, I began searching for a deeper personal relationship with Christ. Through that journey I found Calvary where I was
re-baptized. Born again, I am thankful for having Christ who is the foundation of my life with the hope and guarantee of
eternal salvation. In 1998, I was approached to be an Elder at which time I began reading and praying about the
responsibility and accountability outlined in Timothy and Titus. Being assured that God would equip me to serve Him in this
capacity I said yes to His Call. It has been humbling and an honor to serve God and Calvary to this day."
Favorite Scripture Verse: Isaiah 40:31 - "...Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on
wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

Harry Frum - Elder
Call to Ministry:
"Twenty two years ago, God called me to be a part of the Elder Board. For many years, I served within our Student
Ministries in the High School Ministry and for years also served in leadership of the Usher volunteers."
Favorite Scripture Verse: Matthew 5:16 "Psalm 46:1, 2b, Joshua 1 6-9, Eph 3:20, Phil 2:10-11 - "...That at the name of
Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,

Roger Kemp - Elder
Call to Ministry:
"Even though I became a Christian as a young boy and raised in a happy, healthy Christian home, my walk with Jesus is a
journey that brings new challenges every day. And few things are more important than growing spiritually in community as a
church family. We are doing life together. Serving our church family on the Elder Board is not an oppressive obligation. It's
a privilege. It's an assignment that comes with a deep sense of calling and delivers rich rewards. We have a group of strong
and wise Elders who are devoted to their families, to God's Word and to Calvary Community Church. My association with these
committed leaders makes it a delight to serve as Chairman."

Ryan Liljegren - Elder
Call to Ministry:
"Ryan feels that God has led him into the business world, but has given him a heart for ministry. From a ministry standpoint, Ryan has led worship for adults and youth, he has been leading a small group at Calvary since 2005, and has mentored several
men. Ryan is also on the board of directors at Stillpoint Family Resources. He is particularly excited about seeing the Calvary body grow deeper in their walk with God, and seeing Calvary's children's ministry continue to grow as a place where kids can learn the truths of scripture in a dynamic and fun environment. He has been married to Kim since 1997, and they have three children."
Favorite Scripture Verse: Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths."

Steve Logan - Elder and Operations Board
Call to Ministry:
"With significant influence from my wife, Judy, I accepted Christ as my personal savior and was baptized in Portland
Oregon in 1978. I developed a hunger to know God's Word. In California, I began leading a small group at Calvary that
grew into a ministry and passion. God placed a strong desire on my heart to serve Him through the local church, which
resulted in my invitation to join the Elder Board and later the Operations Board. Today, I feel a strong sense that serving
on these Boards at Calvary is what God has called and gifted me to do. It is indeed an honor and joy to serve the Lord in
these capacities."

Jason McMaster - Elder
Call to Ministry:
"I am committed to being part of Calvary’s charge to grow individuals and families in Christ. As a father and youth
pastor, I am particularly passionate about seeing an impactful, Christ-centered church where children and young adults will
come to know the Lord, families will grow strong together, and new Christian leaders and servants are developed."

Bert Overholt - Elder
Call to Ministry:
"Serving the King of Kings."
Bert Overholt has been serving as an elder for over 5 years. He has been married to Ann for over 35 years, and they have two grown children. Bert has led many trips to Belohorizonte, Brazil, and he spent the first 14 years of his life as the son of missionaries in Brazil and is fluent in English and Portuguese. Bert's father established a Youth For Christ camp located there. Bert is also the Clinical Director and Co-founder of Family Phases Counseling Center, working with individuals and couples and enjoys helping his clients find and experience new aspects of resolve as they pursue deeper connectedness.

Bill Rehwald - Elder
Call to Ministry:
“I have served the church continually as an Elder from 1974 to 2000. With no intention of returning to serve on the
Board, I was asked to consider leadership again. In 2003, God said it was not my time to retire, so I answered the call to
return. I have many favorite books and characters of the Bible. Third Quarter studied Galatians in Spring 2010. During the
study, I was impressed with Galatians 2:20, 'I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.
The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.' Jesus wants our old
nature to die and have us molded into a new creation that is led by the Holy Spirit. We have become new vessels for His use
in building His kingdom.”
Favorite Scripture Verse: 2 Tim 2:15 - "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does
not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth."

Bart Thielen - Elder
Call to Ministry:
"Over the past five years, I have been part of the Men's Ministry team. I've led men’s ministry during my first 3
½ years and have been involved with the men’s breakfast, houseboats, and during the summer in Kidventure when
the men of Calvary and their families teach our kids on Sunday. I have a passion to see men become the spiritual leader of
their family and engage in community through service and small groups. As a father and husband, I understand the importance
of a Christ-centered church where children and adults alike can grow and experience an ever developing relationship with our
Lord Jesus Christ."
